Privacy Policy for ORKFiA

1. Who we are

ORKFiA ("we", "us") is the operator of playorkfia.com, a browser-based strategy game. For questions about this policy or your personal data, contact us at: hello@playorkfia.com.

2. What data we collect and why

When you join the launch waitlist, we collect only your email address (to tell you when ORKFiA opens), your IP address (to rate-limit signups; deleted after a day) and the time you gave your consent.

When you register an account, we collect:

• Email address, used to communicate with you about your account and the game
• Login name and password (passwords are stored as a cryptographic hash, never in plain text)
• Game-related names you choose (alliance, tribe, leader), which form your in-game identity

To keep the game fair we record IP addresses: the one you register from, the IP address and browser of each login, and the IP address of your attacks, operations, spells, kills, forum posts and reports to staff. They limit how many tribes one address can create, stop one address repeating an action against the same target, and let our staff enforce the Code of Conduct's rule of one tribe per player.

Our servers also log IP addresses and browser information for security and to keep the service running.

3. Legal basis for processing

The waitlist is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time: every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Your account is based on the contract formed when you create it and agree to our Code of Conduct. The IP records and server logs are based on our legitimate interest in keeping the game fair, secure and running.

4. How long we keep your data

• The waitlist: deleted 30 days after we send the launch announcement, from our database and from Mailjet.
• Your account: while it exists. When you delete your tribe (Preferences → Delete Account, or ask us), your email, login name, password, login records and the IP addresses of your registration and forum posts are erased at once. Your tribe's name stays in the age's history.
• Login records: 90 days.
• IP addresses of attacks, operations, spells and kills: until the age ends.
• An unfinished registration: 24 hours from the emailed link (30 days for a link sent to the launch waitlist).
• Server logs: 30 days.
• Backups: we keep encrypted backups of the database to recover from data loss. Each one is permanently erased within 30 days, so anything deleted leaves our backups within 30 days too.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We use a hosting provider to run the game's servers and store its backups, and an email provider (Mailjet) to send the waitlist's launch announcement and the emails about your account. Both process data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. We do not share your data with any other third parties.

6. Cookies

We use cookies that are strictly necessary for the game to function: one to keep you logged in while you play, and one to protect the login and registration forms against cross-site request forgery. These are session cookies, do not track you across other websites, and are cleared when you close your browser. No advertising or analytics cookies are used.

7. Children

ORKFiA is open to players of all ages. If you are under 16 years old, you must have the permission of a parent or guardian before creating an account. By registering, you confirm either that you are 16 or older, or that your parent or guardian has given permission. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16 without parental consent, we will delete that account.

8. Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Restrict or object to how we process your data
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify registered users by email.
